My name is Jennifer (she/her) and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology and a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychology.
As a counsellor, my goal is to create a safe and supportive space using a strengths-based approach. Together, we will explore stressors and concerns, set goals and celebrate accomplishments.
I specialize in treating anxiety and depression. We will explore thoughts, behaviours, sensations and emotions while identifying triggers and coping strategies. We will learn why we struggle with anxiety and/or depression, then ways to manage these symptoms.
My other areas of interest include relationship concerns, sexual difficulties, stress, life transitions and trauma. I specialize and have certification in working with trauma and PTSD; specifically sexualized violence against children, women and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. This includes historical childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
I have specialized certification in sex therapy focused on lack of sexual desire, mismatch of sexual desire between couples, arousal issues, sexual dysfunction, sexual pain and sexual issues after trauma. I am Kink, Consensual/Ethical Non Monogamous and LQBTQ2S+ friendly and affirming. I also help couples heal from betrayal, regrettable incidences and affairs while learning better ways to communicate.
When working with clients, I incorporate Mindfulness based approaches which include regulation, breathing and grounding techniques. My other certification includes repairing attachment issues, nurturing diversity and inclusion, and treating self-harm and suicide ideation.
